Car Toon Toon eee....

muralisinghgroin
I found some cool cartoons at the Times of India website. Cartoonist /*Ninad*/ 'Ajit Ninan' has tried his hand at quite a few incidents(all related to cricket). But the wit associated with R.K. Laxman's(also a TOI cartoonist) cartoons is simply not there. The ones I posted were the best of the lot.
R.K. Laxman remains, by far, the best cartoonist in India.

PS: U need to know Bong/Baangla to get what the caption/title means:D

The Blizzard of Oz

blizzard of Jan 05 #1
Life came to a standstill in Northeast America as the blizzard of 05 hit shores last weekend. My place was probably a bit luckier than Boston(38 inches) as it recorded 30 inches of snow. A state of emergency was declared in the state of Massachusetts as the roads were all snow laden. Schools and colleges all over downed their shutters and for four days one did not venture out of the house. The Governor of Mass asked ppl to keep off roads.
At the end of it some of the cars were completely covered with snow and the owners had to do a lot of headscratching to get which lump was whose.
...well...as you see in the pic.....your's truly did step out for a while...but just for a while.

BD's chicken recipe

CIMG0073 CIMG0079

My dear friend BD gave me this chicken recipe and told me to put the chicken in the microwave for 15-20 minutes. Underestimating my Microwave's efficiency I put it in for 20 minutes...and well...as u can see it looked like something out of the world and tasted(!) like something really out of the world.

Mogambo So Gaya

Mogambo so gaya I was shocked to hear of Amrish Puri's death. Recently I saw two of his movies Aetraaz and Hulchul and he looked pretty fit and commanding in both. But life had other plans.
He did a lot of B grade movies but it goes without doubt that he was a great actor. I plan to watch his 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' today although my friends have warned me that it shows Indians in very poor light and that no Indian wud like it but let's see.....

Chicken with wine...tastes pretty fine

Chicken with wine...tastes pretty fine
Hi all...
Y'day I had loads of time...so tried some innovation/combinations for cooking chicken...and it turned out pretty well. I would like to share the recipe here...
1) Marinate the chicken with turmuric, vinegar and some red wine.
2) Put it in Microwave for 3 minutes so that the wine gets through the chic.
3) Fry the chicken with onion, capsicum and ginger garlic paste.
4) Add water and the spices viz garam masala, chicken masala, cumin, salt, heeng etc
5) Add two eggs(well mixed...like u do b4 making omlette)
6) Add red wine again and then let it boil.
....and lo...u have something which tastes really out of the world !

Sensationalisation of Tsunami

Thse days almost all the TV news channels like FOX,WB etc are giving extensive coverage of the Tsunami and all of them have these video footages of the waves sweeping everything aside. When the disaster took place there was hardly any coverage by most of the channels but probably they realised later that these disaster videos could boost their viewership ! Otherwise how do you explain these news channels focussing on the disaster videos (and they get new ones everyday) two weeks after the incident.

spanglish = SPANish+enGLISH

spanglish
The other day we strolled into the AMC theatres to watch 'The Grudge'...but the movie was taken off....so instead went in to see Spanglish. It turned out to be one of sweetest movies I have seen after coming here. Sento comedy it was...with the sento quotient somewhere between Hollywood and Bollywood movies. This Adam Sandler and Paz Vega( the spanish actress who looks like a cross between Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek) movie which dwells on the culture clash the Spanish single mother faces while she spends the summer with Sandler's American family touched me. Half an hour into the movie and I felt this tremendous urge to visit the restroom but I was so taken in by the movie that I did not want to miss a single moment of it and so held back for the next one hour!
Watch out for the girl who plays Paz Vega's daughter. She looks 99.99% Indian. I think I am in love with her.
